Fruit Festivals In Armenia

Armenia is a country of hot sun and delicious juicy fruits. Each summer here are held various funny festivals dedicated to different fruits. We advise all the guests of the country to take part in one of these colorful events during the visit to Armenia. You will definitely have a lot of fun!

Raspberry Festival

The first festival dedicated to raspberry took place in Armenia on August 7. It was the beginning of new great tradition! It was orginized by VictoriaRaspberryProducerGroup in cooperation with WorldVisionArmenia and was held in Ashotavan village not far from Sisian, in the chic area of MJAresort surrounded by mountains. The concept of the festival itself set everyone to positive mood. The main treat was of course raspberries and blackberries. The guests could also taste raspberry jam, cakes with raspberry and the most amazing meal - traditional Armenian dish dolma made of raspberry leaves. During the festival, various competitions with symbolic prizes were held; one of the finalists received a new Armenian smartphone. And of course, it is not possible to imagine any festival without dances and songs. During the festival the guests enjoyed national Armenian dances and even learned themselves to dance kochari (the most famous national dance).

Mulberry Festival

In Armenia, mulberry festival is one of the funniest and favorite holidays along with the festival of wine and barbecue. It is already several years that it takes place in summer in the country. It is held annually in the town of Goris, Syunik region. So why is it so unique and beloved among locals and guests? That is because of the mulberry vodka which has Armenian origin. The festival begins with the harvesting ceremony in which traditionally take part all of the family members. And you, as the chief guest, will have the place of honor in the process. During the festival, guests are offered not only to try white, red and black mulberries, but also to see the entire process of mulberry vodka preparation and even take part in it. For those who are not familiar with the mulberry vodka and have not tried it yet we have some useful information. Mulberry vodka is stronger than ordinary vodka (it's a kind of hooch, but more healthy), it has a peculiar odor and maybe not all will like it. Mulberry vodka in small amounts is considered a "cure", and it is often taken for treatment. If you prefer a healthy lifestyle and do not drink alcohol then you can taste and even buy doshab. It is mulberry syrup which is considered an excellent natural remedy for cough. Except mulberry the guest during the festival can taste national dishes and visit the sale-out of handicrafts.
